We secured a complete dismissal of all charges against prominent Newport Beach attorney and entrepreneur Steven Mehr.
Mehr, a pioneer and leader in the personal injury field, was charged in April 2021 in a 47-count indictment by the Orange County D.A.’s Office alleging insurance fraud and other offenses. The indictment followed more than five years of investigation and pre-indictment litigation.
In November 2021, Hueston Hennigan moved to recuse the assigned prosecutor and D.A.’s Office based on a years-long pattern of prosecutorial misconduct. The motion came in the midst of an extensive evidentiary hearing in a related proceeding and pending motion to dismiss the indictment.
After extensive litigation, in December 2021, the D.A.’s Office agreed to dismiss all charges and terminate the related proceedings.
“These charges should have never been brought,” said lead counsel Marshall Camp of Hueston Hennigan. “Mr. Mehr has dedicated his life to representing individuals affected by serious injuries. We are enormously gratified by this result.”
The Hueston Hennigan team was led by Marshall Camp, John Hueston, Craig Fligor and Michael Schneider.
