Deok-Hyun David Kim is an associate focusing on complex commercial litigation. Prior to joining Hueston Hennigan, Mr. Kim clerked for the Hon. Kenneth M. Karas of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the Hon. Frederic Block of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He also was a litigation associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell.

In law school, Mr. Kim earned Dean’s Scholar Prizes in several subjects and served as article editor of the Harvard International Law Journal. He also worked as a student attorney for the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinical Program and interned at the North Carolina Solicitor General’s Office, among other activities.

Experience

Representing the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research in a lawsuit challenging the decision by federal agencies to dismantle the National Center for Atmospheric Research. (See “Lawsuit challenges Trump admin’s plan to dismantle country’s largest climate research lab,” NBC News).

Representing a Fortune 100 technology company in connection with a DOJ investigation that led to an indictment of a former employee.

Defending Southern California Edison in connection with high-profile litigation filed over the January 2025 Eaton Fire in Altadena.

Representing Southern California Edison and Edison International in litigation arising out of the 2019 Saddle Ridge Fire.

Successfully represented a former senior government official in a DOJ investigation.
