Behrens Named Of Counsel

Hueston Hennigan announced today that Mike Behrens has been promoted to Of Counsel, effective January 1, 2021.

“Mike is an exceptional lawyer and advocate,” said managing partner Brian Hennigan. “We are excited to see him continuing to work closely with clients to achieve favorable resolutions.”

Mr. Behrens has achieved significant results for clients in a wide array of complex commercial litigation cases. Recently, Mr. Behrens has been a key member of the wildfire defense practice and also conducted a high-profile fact-finding investigation for the Board of Regents of the University of California.

Mr. Behrens serves as the president of the board of directors for the Community Legal Aid SoCal. The son of a Japanese-American woman born in an internment camp, Mr. Behrens has dedicated his pro bono practice to issues focusing on rights of immigrants. Among his other achievements, he obtained a landmark constitutional holding from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, ensuring due process protections for immigrants. Brown v. Holder, 763 F.3d 1141 (9th Cir. 2014).

Mr. Behrens earned his JD from UCLA School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. While in law school, Mr. Behrens served as articles editor for the UCLA Law Review and was named a Michael T. Masin Scholar. He earned his MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles and his BA from the University of California, Berkeley.
