Vicki Chou has been named among the “Best Under 40” by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA).
Ms. Chou is one of 20 lawyers selected by NAPABA for its list of the best lawyers under 40, which recognizes talented individuals within the Asian Pacific American legal community who have achieved prominence and distinction in their fields of endeavor—be it the practice of law, academia, business, civic and charitable affairs, the judiciary, or politics—and who have demonstrated a strong commitment to Asian Pacific American civic or community affairs.
Supporters noted Ms. Chou for her “unwavering dedication to her commitments” as a “formidable opponent” with an “upward trajectory.” They further noted that “she combines keen legal acumen with good instincts and a soft touch” and as a “nationally recognized expert for the Department of Justice.”
Ms. Chou was recognized for her successful career as a Deputy Chief in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Central District of California, where she represented the United States in hundreds of criminal cases, including computer and internet fraud, intellectual property, money laundering, bank fraud, tax fraud, and racketeering offenses. She successfully tried over 10 cases as lead counsel and won every one of her appeals before the Ninth Circuit.
Ms. Chou’s outstanding reputation for her public sector work has allowed her to quickly build a formidable private sector practice at Hueston Hennigan. Since joining, Vicki has been involved with developing strategies related to the defense of some of the firm’s highest-profile criminal defendants.
From college to law school, to currently serving on her third term as a member of the Board of Governors for the Southern California Chinese Lawyers Association, Ms. Chou’s involvement with the Asian community is long-standing.
This year, Ms. Chou has also been recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of the “Top Minority Attorneys” and one of the “Top Women Lawyers” and by Benchmark Litigation as one of the “40 & Under Hot List.”
