The Daily Journal has named partners Alison Plessman and Allison Libeu to the list of 2020’s “Top Women Lawyers” in California.
The Daily Journal cited Ms. Plessman’s recent victories including securing a preliminary injunction in favor of Sweegen, a maker of the stevia sweetener Bestevia, in an action alleging breaches of company officials of their fiduciary duties. She also won a motion for summary judgment for Broadcom in a breach of contract action, resulting in a dismissal. The newspaper also noted her representation of Edison International and Southern California Edison in proceedings stemming from the Thomas Fire in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties, and in litigation arising from the recent Montecito mudslides. This marks the fourth consecutive year and the fifth time in six years she has been honored as one of the state’s most accomplished female lawyers.
Allison Libeu focuses her practice on complex civil litigation with a niche specialty in the “corporate divorce” arena, which typically involves disputes between the founders or owners of a business. Editors noted her representation of Amazon in two suits alleging the big online retailer poached sellers from eBay Inc. and her representation of the online gay dating site Grindr. This marks Ms. Libeu’s first time on the list of California’s most accomplished female lawyers.
