Michael M. Purpura, former advisor to US presidents, represents former White House Counsel Pat Cipollone, who recently testified before the House Jan 6. Committee.

“I am honored that he placed his trust in me because these were complicated issues in that you have attorney-client issues and separation of powers issues between co-equal branches of government,” said Mike Purpura in an interview with the Daily Journal.

“We negotiated to have his subpoena withdrawn because the executive branch has taken the position for decades that close advisers to the president are not subject to compelled testimony by Congress,” said Mr. Purpura. “Through a lot of hard work and a lot of negotiation with the committee, we were able to solve the problem and still be sensitive to Pat’s role as a lawyer. We protected the direct advice that he gave to his client.”

As noted in the National Law Journal, “Cipollone was present for many of the key events under investigation by the select committee and has been portrayed at the committee’s public hearings as someone who resisted Trump’s more extreme plans to reverse his election defeat.”
