On August 1, 2022, we filed an amicus brief to the United States Supreme Court in Students for Fair Admissions v. President and Fellows of Harvard College (No. 20-1199) and Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina, et al. (No. 21-707).

We represent 35 former high-ranking military officers, arguing that the Court should uphold the constitutionality of the consideration of race in college admissions.

“Our brief argued that diversity in the military officer corps is essential to national security, and that all officers benefit from attending colleges or service academies that maintain a diverse student body,” said Michael Purpura.

Among our clients are four former Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs (one from each service), multiple former Superintendents of the Nation’s service academies (West Point, Annapolis, and Air Force), Congressional Medal of Honor winner and former Senator Bob Kerrey, and Admiral William McRaven, who was Commander of the U.S. Special Operations Command at the time of the raid that killed Osama bin Laden.

The Hueston Hennigan team included Michael Purpura, Moez Kaba, Segun Babatunde, and Amber Munoz.
